Governor Ademola Adeleke met President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Thursday for their first post-election meeting, arriving at 5:25pm for a closed-door discussion.

Governor Ademola Adeleke thanked President Tinubu for allowing a free and fair Osun governorship election, despite allegations of vote-buying, coercion, violence and killings during the polls.

Davido jokingly celebrated Governor Adeleke’s Osun election victory with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja, as the moment served as a light-hearted victory lap following Adeleke’s win over the APC candidate.

It comes as a viral video showed an Osun elder warning Governor Adeleke against declaring that the state will vote for President Tinubu, stressing that his victory came from serving the people.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says he would restore the petrol subsidy if elected president in 2027, questioning how the funds saved from its removal have been used.

Meanwhile Atiku’s latest promise to restore the petrol subsidy has sparked controversy because he previously pledged in 2022 to remove it if elected president.

President Tinubu dismissed Atiku Abubakar’s proposal to restore the petrol subsidy as “serious ignorance,” highlighting the deep political divide and shifting rhetoric surrounding subsidy removal.

UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu sparked debate after correcting a young female graduate who addressed him by his first name, reigniting conversations about corporate etiquette, respect and professional hierarchy in Nigeria.

The debate is not uniquely Nigerian, as a resurfaced 1990 clip shows American author Maya Angelou similarly correcting a young audience member for addressing her by her first name.

The debate continued after Elumelu was previously addressed as “Tony” by a Stanford graduate student, highlighting UBA’s first-name policy while raising concerns about the online backlash against the young graduate.

In another development, Christ Embassy, led by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has unveiled a new range of Tsion electric vehicles, marking the church’s entry into Nigeria’s automotive and electric mobility sector.

Residents of Edo State have taken to the streets to protest the deplorable, muddy and pothole-ridden condition of the Benin-Agbor bypass road, highlighting its impact on commuters, businesses and the movement of goods.

A viral video of people using an ambulance as public transport in Abuja has sparked concern over the city’s strained transport system and the potential risks to emergency response and public health.

In another development, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 winner Chidimma Adetshina says she is being targeted in South Africa amid an ongoing citizenship dispute and potential deportation.

Adetshina was then confronted by protesters outside court, highlighting wider tensions over xenophobia, migration and repatriation in South Africa as her citizenship case is adjourned to February 2027.
