Nigeria Hits Major Milestone in HIV Fight Ahead of World AIDS Day 2025
Nigeria records a landmark achievement in the fight against HIV!
The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) reports that Nigeria has successfully met two of the three 95-95-95 global HIV targets, marking a major breakthrough in public health. This achievement comes as the world gears up for World AIDS Day 2025, highlighting Nigeria’s progress in HIV testing, treatment, and viral suppression.
The 95-95-95 targets, set by UNAIDS, aim for:
95% of people living with HIV knowing their status
95% of those diagnosed receiving sustained antiretroviral therapy
95% of those on therapy achieving viral suppression
With two targets achieved, Nigeria demonstrates the effectiveness of national HIV programs and the country’s commitment to ending AIDS as a public health threat.
